Code of best practice

Useful information and professional treatment solutions

Providing the UK’s most extensive information on bed bugs since June 2005

Although we are governed by a significant amount of legislation as pest controllers we have taken the extra step of developing a bed bug code of best practice. Although this is written with specific reference to bedbugs we like to think much of it holds true for all types of pest control.

1. We will not work on a property or project where we can not inspect all potential areas of infestation and insist on inspecting all adjoining rooms to a site of major infestation.

2. We always leave full information on what products have been used at your property. This includes a full health and safety assessment of the chemicals used as provided by our suppliers. A single page merely stating what chemicals have been used is not in our opinion sufficient or professional.

3. If we feel that you are unwilling or unable to carry out the required post treatment procedures and do not want us to make arrangements to ensure that they are done correctly we will refuse to treat the property.

4. We only work with other companies who are appropriately qualified to carry out the work that we do. In the case of pest control we consider this is to qualifications equal to or higher than the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health / British Pest Control Association Certificate in Pest Control levels 1 and 2.

5. Prior to being allowed to work alone our technicians receive at least 2 months supervised on the job training from a manager who holds the appropriate qualifications and is experienced enough in assessing properties to ensure that they are taught to follow our investigative integrated pest management approach.

6. Our staff will always conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism and discretion when dealing with your problem, and will never disclose the details of any property they are working on to any third party without your express permission.

7. All clients are taught how to identify the earliest signs of bed bugs so that they can avoid coming into contact with another infestation.

8. We endeavour to support out clients as long as they adhere to the treatment program and detailed advice that we give them.

9. We will ensure that you only the safety and most efficient methods are used on your property at all times and will always try to ensure that we schedule enough time to achieve this.

10. We are increasingly concerned by some of the poor working practices used by other companies.  As such we take the firm line that if we see inappropriate working practices that fall outside of the legal guidelines we will report the matter to the appropriate authorities including the Health and Safety Executive.

We can only guarantee our work as long as you can guarantee that you will not come into contact with a source of bed bugs.  This usually means that until we have inspected a property and worked out the source of the infestation we offer no guarantees.
