Bed Bug Monitors
We are please announce that we have come to arrangements to have our passive bed bug monitoring technology distributed in 106 countries by MidMos solutions a division of Brandenburg. For wholesale supply please contact them directly via:
Domestic and home use quantities can be purchased via the PayPal system at the bottom
of this page. We have shipped monitors to most countries, postage to the EU only
takes a few days while the US can take 3 -
Since we started in 2005 one of the aims of Bed Bugs Limited was to develop new technologies for the identification and control of bed bugs, a rather ambitious goal for a small company but given our exposure to the problem who could be better positioned. We started working on technology that would enable people to detect earlier in the infestation cycle where treatment would be more efficient and would have less of an impact on people.
In 2008 we filed several patents on technology to allow the early identification of bed bugs using a simple passive device that requires no power or consumables. It is designed to remain in location for 12 months and checked either weekly or monthly depending upon your exposure risks.
We have subsequently found through feedback from trial users that if caught quickly an infestation can be removed by monitor replacement without the need to use insecticides. Obviously if the source of the infestation is something that you come into regular contact with the bugs could return again but in single source infestations it is an effective solution and will help people to realise quickly if they have a local source infestation.
How passive monitors work
Passive monitors are designed to be installed into a room prior to an infestation being present. They are then visually inspected on a weekly or monthly basis and will show signs of bed bug activity by enabling you to identify clearly see:
Faecal traces
Cast skins
Live samples
They are true monitors and do not trap or immobilise the bed bugs in anyway ensuring that alarm pheromone release from immobilised insects does not spread the colony in the same way we have observed with tapes and glue based traps.
If bed bugs are present in the room when the monitor is installed they will usually
relocate into it within a matter of 24 -
To date they have also been used to eradicate recently introduced infestations, as replacing the monitor can carry with it all the live samples and eggs offering a chemical free solution if the infestation is detected quickly.
The presence of bed bug activity on the monitor can be seen from a reasonable distance, up to a few metres (subject to eye sight and installed location) taking as little as a few seconds to check it thoroughly.
Suspected faecal traces can be easily confirmed with a simple smear test illustrated below:
The passive monitors are patent pending technology and are based on the extensive field experience of our managing director who can quite rightly claim to be one of the most experienced people in the bed bug field worldwide having worked on and successfully cleared some of the most advanced infestations ever documented.
If you are worried about being exposed to bedbugs they are a great way cost effective way to confirm the visual signs of an infestation, they can also be used to ensure your pest control service agent has successfully eradicated an infestation.

All monitors are provided for monitoring and detection purposes only and are not licensed for evaluation, product development or trial purposes. If you wish to asses the product for commercial purposes please consult our Intellectual property page.
All passive monitors are manufactured in the UK at a manufacturing facility in the Midlands which does not conduct research and development with live bedbug samples to ensure they are produced in a bedbug free environment.
US orders should be placed through USBedBugs.com for the fastest possible delivery times.
